1977 Lotus Esprit S1 Sold

Return

Four owner Arizona/So. Cal car.  This is the 8th car built for the US market. It was air freighted to Southern California when new and sold to a young couple. The couple had bought more car than they could afford and sold it in 1979. The second owner kept the car until he passed away in 1994. It is thought that he named the street they lived on “Lotus Dr”. In 1994 it was sold to the third owner, a life long Lotus enthusiast and racer, and moved to southern Arizona. During the 14 years of ownership the third owner accumulated just 3500 miles.

While in his care, the interior was completely restored, all smog equipment was removed and the engine returned to its proper Euro tune with correct twin Dellorto carbs.  The suspension and cooling system was also enhanced with height adjustable coil-over shocks at the rear and a high efficiency radiator with triple fans. This upgraded cooling system has no problems coping with the Arizona heat. The cam belt and idler pulley were replaced and water pump rebuilt in August 2007.  Comes complete with original owners manual, jack, and tools, along with a complete set of factory shop manuals.  The original rear shocks/springs and smog equipment are included, as is the original steering wheel.  The car now has 37K miles on it and is in outstanding condition. You are unlikely find a nicer example of an early Esprit anywhere.  Contact: jjunsworth@aol.com
